July Talk headlining Canada Day music on St. John’s George Street
Three-time Juno Award winners will cap off family oriented day of activities on July 1
A three-time Juno Award winning band will serve as the headliner for the George Street Associations’ 2018 Canada’s BIG Birthday Bash on Sunday, July 1.
The 2017 alternative album of the year (“Touch”) winner July Talk, a Canadian alternative rock band that was formed in Toronto in 2012, will entertain the night crowds during this year’s Canada’s BIG Birthday Bash.
July Talk also picked up a Juno for best alternative album on 2015 for their selftitled album “July Talk” and was the breakthrough group of the year in 2014.
The band consists of singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay, guitarist Ian Docherty, bassist Josh Warburton, and drummer Danny Miles.
“The George Street Association is proud to provide an exciting, entertaining, and safe experience for residents and tourists alike, and is committed to levelling up the biggest little street in North America each and every year,” Jonathan Galgay, executive director of the George Street Association said Wednesday in a news release.
“We strive to provide high quality entertainment which appeals to a wide audience. This year’s Canada’s BIG Birthday Bash promises to provide a great launch to a big summer on George Street,” he added.
July Talk’s albums include “Touch”, the self-titled “July Talk” and the EP “For Your Bloodshot Eyes.”
The George Street Association will host a free, family event featuring children’s entertainers, face painting, and much more including Rock The Block; a free all ages battle of the bands competition.
Bands will compete for the opportunity to perform at the 2018 George Street Festival.
