Marine Atlantic selects site for new building in Port aux Basques

-

PORT AUX BASQUES — Marine Atlantic announced Thursday it has acquired land in Port aux Basques and will be moving forward with the construction of a new administration building on that land at 175 Hardy’s Arterial Rd. in the town.

A news release states that, once constructed, the new facility will address space and infrastructure challenges, and consolidate administrative functions currently being undertaken in separate locations. The new facility will offer improved space and amenities for employees and operations, have a strengthened focus on openness, collaboration, employee wellness and environmental responsibility as well as be in close proximity to schools, daycare services and recreational facilities.

“This will be a multimillion-dollar facility that will consolidate administrative functions in Port aux Basques, similar to what has been done in other areas of our organization,” said Kristopher Parsons, chair of Marine Atlantic’s board of directors. “We are very excited about the construction of our new facility and the benefits it will bring for our operations, as well as our overall presence and investment in the local community. We will also investigate partnership opportunities that could result in mutual benefits for our operations, employees and local residents.”
