Impaired drivers stopped in St. John’s and Torbay
ST. JOHN’S — Three men were stopped and charged with impaired driving in separate incidents Thursday and early Friday morning.
• Around 2 p.m. the RNC responded to a call of an impaired driver in Torbay. A 60-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving, refusal of the Breathalyzer, impaired operation, and two counts of driving while prohibited in Canada. His vehicle was seized and the man was held for a court appearance in the morning.
• Police pulled a man over on Torbay Road around 11 p.m. after a report of a possible impaired driver. A 29-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and failing the Breathalyzer. He was released to appear in court at a later date but his vehicle was impounded.
• At 2:35 a.m. Friday the RNC stopped a man driving on Military Road and determined the 61-year-old was under the influence of alcohol. As a result of a Breathalyzer test, he was charged with impaired driving and failing the Breathalyzer. He was released to appear in court at a later date but his vehicle was seized.
At 2:50 am, RNC Operational Patrol Services conducted a traffic safety stop on Topsail Road Paradise and found that the 68 year old male driver was operating under suspension and operating without a valid insurance.
He was issued traffic summonses and released but his vehicle was impounded.
