Royal St. John’s Regatta The oldest continuous sporting event in North America celebrates its 200th anniversar­y with races and fun all day at Quidi Vidi Lake. The first race to kick off the day is the amateur men’s race at 7 a.m. The women’s championsh­ip race is at 6:30 p.m., followed by the men’s championsh­ip race at 7 p.m. Event is weather-dependent, with an announceme­nt in the early morning. 12:15 p.m. Free yoga Join us for free, weekly, all-levels outdoor yoga on the lawn of Government House (50 Military Road) in St. John’s all summer long on Wednesdays at 12:15 p.m. (45 mins). Washer Toss Tournament The Mount Pearl and Paradise Chamber of Commerce is holding a Washer Toss Tournament on Saturday, August 18. The annual tournament returns to St. David’s Field in Mount Pearl starting at 10 a.m. Free hamburgers and hot dogs. Bring the family for a day of fun. Register a team of two before tomorrow, August 2 to be entered in the early bird draw for a night at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Plenty of cash prizes to be won plus there’s a 50-50 draw. 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Other Women Walk A historical walking tour featuring multiple performanc­es at standing stops in and around Bannerman Park. Profession­al actors perform as various women from 1922 St. John’s. The tour departs twice daily: at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays between July 23 and Aug. 10, rain or shine, from the corner of Rennies Mill Road and Circular Road. ‘Fleming’ — A Walking Tour The award-winning “Fleming” — a walking tour — takes place until Aug. 23 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. This

one-of-a-kind tour received a Manning Award from the Historic Sites Associatio­n of Newfoundla­nd and Labrador for exceptiona­l public presentati­on of Newfoundla­nd history. Paul Rowe, in the character of Bishop Michael Anthony Fleming, takes his audience on a tour like no other. “Fleming” tells the story of the Basilica — with little-known facts about the constructi­on, and the social issues of the times — in a fresh and engaging manner. The one-hour walking tour starts at 1 p.m., with tickets available at the door at the Basilica. Cash only; $12 for general tickets and $10 for seniors and students.
