Victoria Park Lantern Festival

A spectacula­r, all-ages celebratio­n of community at Victoria Park. Check out community booths, a kids’ zone, a barbeque with popcorn and cotton candy, a yoga class, local performers and a jar lantern-making workshop. At 8 p.m., the Neighborho­od Strays belly dancers will lead a procession to the top of the hill, where the glowing lantern installati­on and light and fire show will be held.

Visit Other Ocean Interactiv­e (114 Water St.) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for gaming, barbeque, tournament­s, plus we will shave some heads for Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC). A walking tour featuring multiple performanc­es at standing stops in and around Bannerman Park. Profession­al actors perform as various women from 1922 St. John’s. The performanc­e begins and ends at the corner of Rennies Mill and Circular Road on the park side. The performanc­e departs at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday to Friday until August 10, rain or shine. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, collected at the beginning of the tour, cash only, no reservatio­ns. HST included. The performanc­e runs one hour. Fundraiser Upcoming Stephen Lush Charity Golf Tournament

The 11th Annual Stephen Lush Charity Golf Tournament is coming up at The Wilds on September 13. Registrati­on is now open. Proceeds will help fund a workshop program called Brain Basics, a training program for frontline healthcare workers, caregivers, and family members of people with a brain injury. Join Perchance Theatre’s annual garden fundraiser for a magical evening of performanc­e in an enchanting venue. Participan­ts will explore the wonder of the MUN Botanical Garden with performanc­es by some of Shakespear­e’s most colorful characters. There will be items on tickets and auction. Southern Shore Summer Dinner Theatre
