MOLYNEUX, Dorothy

-

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy Molyneux. Dorothy was born April 23, 1929 in Rainford, Lancashire and passed away at home in Leiston, Suffolk on July 22, 2018. Dorothy moved to Suffolk with her late husband, Harry, in 1953. From that time onwards, she was a contented resident of Leiston. She taught at the local primary schools in Leiston, Snape and Yoxford for many years and generations of children benefited from her no-nonsense but kindly approach which brought the best out of everyone. As a teacher, she always believed that understanding the children and making learning fun came first. After retiring she continued as a supply teacher for several years and was herself a life-long learner. Dorothy also touched other people through her volunteer work with Blood Donors. For many years she was an active sailor on the River Alde, as well as a ballroom dancer and keen gardener. Dorothy was part of the formation dancing team representing Suffolk on the television show Come Dancing. She was a frequent visitor to Canada. We are happy that she led a full and active life right until the end. She is survived by her two children David (married to Jennifer, from St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada) and Michael (married to Clare from Winchester); her three grandchildren Laura (married to Rodney), Nicholas (married to Laura) and Joseph (and his partner Allison) all live in Canada, together with her great-grandson Nickson, who arrived in 2016. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place at 10:30 on Monday August 13, 2018 at Seven Hills Crematorium, Felixstowe Rd, Nacton, Suffolk. An informal reception will follow. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution or another charity of your choice.
