Love for Neveah

-

A group of about 120 people gathered in Bowring Park Wednesday evening for a walk with their dogs to remember nine-year-old Nevaeh Denine. Nevaeh, the young founder of Nevaeh’s Lemonade Stand, died earlier this week. Friends, family and well-wishers shared stories and memories as they walked around the park, draped in purple and yellow ribbons, two of Nevaeh’s favorite colours. Nevaeh’s dogs Skipper and Lucy came along for the walk as well.

With the young voices of the children saying “get your lemonade,” children from the Creative Kids Daycare centre in the Goulds got in on the entrepreneurship spirit on Wednesday afternoon by holding a lemonade stand selling glasses of lemonade in memory of Nevaeh Denine of the Goulds, who died Monday after her battle with cancer. With parents of the daycare children and the public from the Goulds and passersby alike, patrons were lined up to get glasses of lemonade and support the cause. A dump truck operator even stopped his truck in the middle of the road and hopped out and supported the cause by buying a thirst quencher. Creative Kids Daycare owner/operator Cathy Cox said all the funds raised from the stand will go directly to Nevaeh’s Lemonade Stand and at the end of the day, and as the loose change, 5’s, 10’s and 20’s were coming in, about $2,800 was donated for the Neveah’s Lemonade Stand charity. Nevaeh’s funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Kevin’s Church in the Goulds.
