Volunteers are welcome to visit the headquarters between 9 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. every night to receive their kits and training and begin patrolling. TUESDAY, AUGUST 14 Activities 1 p.m. Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
You’re invited to Wikipedia Edita-thon: NL Writers Edition at Memorial University’s QEII Library, in the Computing Classroom on the first floor (Room L2028). Wikipedia Edit-a-thons are events where a group of people meet to edit and expand a specific subject on Wikipedia that has noticeable gaps in it. Our topic will be writers of Newfoundland and Labrador. The purpose is to make significant historical writers who have been overlooked more easily found and researched, while also teaching those who attend how to use the Wikipedia platform. Although we will have mainly collected research on past writers (many of whom are now deceased), we encourage you to bring any knowledge or research you have about any N.L. writer, living or dead. If you’d like to sign up for the event or learn more, email student@wanl.ca. Computers will be provided and there’s no need to have any prior knowledge of editing. The QEII library is accessible.
