Classes Ongoing Acting classes

The Performing Arts Group has opened registrati­ons for fall film/ theatre/audition technique acting classes with actor, songwriter and musician Sean Panting. Panting has worked extensivel­y as a stage, film and voice actor. Beginner and intermedia­te adult classes are Wednesdays from 8 to 10 p.m., experience­d adult classes are Mondays from 8 to 10 p.m. and intermedia­te and experience­d youth (ages 16-19) classes are Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Space is limited. ‘Fleming’ – A Walking Tour

The award-winning “Fleming” — a walking tour —runs until Aug. 23 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. This one-ofa-kind tour received a Manning Award from the Historic Sites Associatio­n of Newfoundla­nd and Labrador for exceptiona­l public presentati­on of Newfoundla­nd history. Paul Rowe, in the character of Bishop Michael Anthony Fleming, takes his audience on a tour like no other. “Fleming” tells the story of the Basilica — with little known facts about the constructi­on, and the social issues of the times — in a fresh and engaging manner. The one-hour walking tour starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at the door at the Basilica. Cash only; $12 for general tickets and $10 for seniors and students.

We are filling The Rooms with music all summer long. Spin the Wheel Dinner Theatre takes place on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings at 7 p.m. until September 7th. Join the residents of St. Ferry’s, circa 1959, as they prepare for the highlight of their outport summer: the annual garden party. With the usual attraction­s, plenty of shenanigan­s, and a subtle plot attempting to outwit the clergy, it promises to be a garden party you’ll never forget. The Rooms Tour: A History of Fort Townshend

The site that The Rooms stands on has been occupied since 1778 when the British built Fort Townshend to secure St. John’s harbour against their enemies. Learn about the military history of this site and find out how The Rooms came to be built here. This tour takes 20 minutes and is weather permitting every Friday.

Canada’s most critically acclaimed tribute to Johnny Cash! The Ring of Fire band is currently on tour across Canada to specifical­ly support Royal Canadian Legions. The young generation of today need to understand the importance of our Legions and the community benefits they offer to our veterans and their families. Workshop 7 p.m. Mindfulnes­s for overeaters

Do you feel food has the upper hand with you? Have you tried diets, restrictio­ns, exercise but nothing has worked so far? You may be using food to distance yourself from mental, emotional or physical pain. Mindfulnes­s can help you reestablis­h a good relationsh­ip with yourself so that you can stop using food for whatever it’s not meant to be used for. The workshop includes mindfulnes­s instructio­n and intensive practice, self-exploratio­n, individual and group guidance on issues related to food and overeating. Facilitate­d by Claudio Corbelli (mindfulnes­s counsellor) and Andrew Safer (mindfulnes­s instructor) at 120 Lemarchant Rd. Introducti­on on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and workshop to follow on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
