SPCA St. John’s open house The SPCA St. John’s is holding its annual open house from 12 to 5 p.m. at their shelter at 115 RCAF Rd. This family event features a barbeque, games, tours of the shelter, a microchip clinic, nail trims and much more, including a recycling drive and a pet supplies donation drive. VOWR Guest Interview Barbara De Land speaks with Chris Rusted, founder and owner of the Manna European Bakery and Deli, located on Freshwater Road for the last 30 years. Under Chris, Manna Bakery became a well-known St. John’s institutio­n after he decided his business would follow the European style of baked goods and desserts under the direction of a St. John’s woman, originally from Prague, who had begun offering these sorts of items not long before. The direction of the business is now being passed on to Chris’ son, Jonathan.
