OATES Irene E. August 21, 1924 – August 26, 2018

At the breaking of dawn on Sunday, August 26th, 2018, we watched with sad and broken hearts as our mother and grandmothe­r Irene E. Oates age 94 years, of Bay Bulls passed peacefully away after a brief illness surrounded by her family at the Health Sciences Center, St. John’s, Newfoundla­nd. Predecease­d by her husband Bill Oates, her parents Thomas and Mary Lundrigan, and members of the Lundrigan and Oates families. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, son Billy (Barb) Oates, daughters Cecelia (Andrew) O’driscoll, Peggy (Charlie) O’driscoll. Eight grandchild­ren, Andrew (Rachel) O’driscoll, Mondella (Rodney) Healey, Tony (Denise) O’driscoll, Christina (Andy) Walsh, Karen (Mike) Maloney, Keith (Tracey) Oates, Christophe­r (Gail) O’driscoll, and Charlie (Tammy) O’driscoll. eleven great-grandchild­ren and three great-great-grandchild­ren. Special niece Madonna (Paddy) Carey, and their children Don (Melissa) and Cassandra (Jordan), brother and sisters-in-law of the Oates family, many nieces and nephews, Staff, Management and Residents of Alderwood Estates, Witless Bay, where she happily resided for the past four and a half years. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls, on Monday August 27th, from 4 – 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Tuesday August 28th at 11:30am, from Sts. Peter and Paul RC Church, Bay Bulls. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to take place at a later date from Our Lady of Mount Loretta RC Cemetery, Bay Bulls.

Flowers gratefully declined, donations in her memory may be made to a charity near and dear to her heart, Our Lady of Mount Loretta RC Cemetery Fund, Bay Bulls.

Death takes the body, God takes the soul,

Our minds will hold the memories,

Our hearts will keep the love, Our faith lets us know, We will meet again
