Nominations open for Order of Newfoundland and Labrador
The province’s highest form of recognition is now accepting nominations.
The Order of Newfoundland and Labrador “recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement in any field of endeavour benefiting, in an outstanding manner, Newfoundland and Labrador and its residents,” stated a news release issued Tuesday afternoon by the Executive Council.
Anyone can nominate a deserving person.
So far, 100 people have received the honour.
“Having seen the pride and excitement on the faces of past recipients, their families and their nominators, I know how much the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador means to them,” Premier Dwight Ball stated.
“I encourage anyone who knows of a deserving Newfoundlander and Labradorian to review the nomination package and put their names forward for this honour.”
Nomination packages can be found online at gov.nl.ca/onl/ order-of-nl-fillable-form-2/.
Recipients will be honoured at a formal ceremony at Government House.
“I applaud those who have been invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. I know there are many more deserving of the honour,” Lt.-gov. Judy Foote stated.
“I look forward to participating in my first investiture ceremony as lieutenant-governor and sharing this special day with more of our citizens who will receive this recognition.”
