The Memetic Self-portrait Project
Memetic: meme + etic. Of or pertaining to memes; images or sayings that carry cultural symbols or social ideas. Originally from California, but based in St. John’s for the last 15 years, David Baltzer has created large-format paintings that interrogate our understanding of identity, gender, race and self in the turbulent 21st century. The show runs Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Sept. 15 at the Neal Building, 50 Harbour Dr., 4th floor.

A selection of proven perennials, heaths, heathers, shrubs and trees are being offered in the annual Fall Plant Sale organized by Friends of MUN Botanical Garden. This rain or shine outdoor event is held in the area directly opposite the main gates of MUN Botanical Garden, Mount Scio Road from 10 a.m. until noon. Experienced gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and help identify plants suitable for your garden. Quantities are limited for some plant varieties so come early for best selection! Look for volunteer greeters wearing orange safety vests and our directional and parking signs.

The Multiple Myeloma March increases awareness and raises funds for clinical research and supports advocacy for accelerated access to new therapies for Canadians living with myeloma.
