6:30 p.m. Fishcakes & Accordions Experience

O’brien’s Music is partnering with Rocket Bakery to offer a unique hands-on experience with the quintessen­tial Newfoundla­nd folk instrument: the button accordion. Visit Rocket Bakery to find out all about how the instrument works and we’ll even help you try your hand at playing a tune. While you listen to traditiona­l Newfoundla­nd tunes played on a variety of different instrument­s, you’ll learn about how the button accordion came to be so popular in Newfoundla­nd and you’ll enjoy Rocket Bakery’s take on a traditiona­l fish cake dinner featuring two of Rocket’s special kitchen party fish cakes, salad, dessert and tea or coffee. Beer and wine available, too. $45 per person. Event runs 6:30-8 p.m.

Games 7 p.m. Crib

The weekly crib game in support of the Canadian Mental Health Associatio­n – NL Division continues every Tuesday in the basement of St. Teresa’s Church. Admission is $5 with a prize awarded to the winner. The event is open to everyone. Contact Andrew Walsh at 726-3935 for more informatio­n.

Aikido is an effective martial art with an ethical approach: use the aggressor’s energy against them without harming them. Get fit and focused while having fun. Barbara De Land speaks with guest Lynnann Winsor, deputy city manager of public works in St John’s. Winsor is a Master’s degree trained civil engineer, who is in charge of a 300- to 400-person department, depending on the season, which deals with the day-to-day challenges of a very old, hilly city with extremely variable temperatur­es and precipitat­ion, such as city snow and ice clearing, pot hole filling, road maintenanc­e, water treatment plants, parks, and others. A new play by Justin Peddle, presented by Second Light Production­s at the Barbara Barrett Theatre. When circumstan­ces force Dylan to move in with his brother, Adam, and Adam’s wife, Leigh, he finally begins to get his life back on track.

The 2018 “Art in the Garden” exhibition is on at MUN Botanical Garden, showcasing 22 artists. Exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Oct. 14.

Mick Foley – profession­al wrestling’s hardcore legend – brings his 20 Years of Hell tour to the CLB Armoury. Kids welcome. 30 Eastport Peninsula Agricultur­al Exhibition

Literary arts, photograph­y and visual arts entries must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. Literary arts include poetry and short stories. Visual arts include paintings and drawings.

The program committee of the Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice, together with Anglican, Catholic, and United church leaders, invites you to join them in an equinox celebratio­n of song, music, reflection and prayer to honour the beginning of fall.
