Aikido is an effective martial art with an ethical approach: use the aggressor’s energy against them without harming them. Get fit and focused while having fun. Barbara De Land speaks with guest Lynnann Winsor, deputy city manager of public works in St John’s. Winsor is a Master’s degree trained civil engineer, who is in charge of a 300- to 400-person department, depending on the season, which deals with the day-to-day challenges of a very old, hilly city with extremely variable temperatur­es and precipitat­ion, such as city snow and ice clearing, pot hole filling, road maintenanc­e, water treatment plants, parks, and others.
