The 30th annual Rennie’s River Duck Race Family Fun Day is Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. The party will be riverside on Rennie’s Mill Road between Carpasian Road and Portugal Cove Road. Through song, poems and reflective insights focused on the care and protection of water for life, the Mercy Centre for Ecology and Justice, the Anglican, Catholic and United churches sponsor this event at Bowring Park. Soul Food: The Power of Words

This month’s Soul Food will focus on the power of words, speech and sound, and how their inspired usage can touch and transform the human soul. Join us for poetry, prose, imagery and the music of guest performer Kathy Stock from 2-4 p.m. at The Landing (Room 3018) at Memorial University’s University Centre, 1 Arctic Ave. The program will be followed by a social and refreshmen­ts.
