Holy Cross, Storm to meet in baseball final

After two years of finishing runner-up to Shamrocks, Holy Cross hope to go all the way this season in the St. John’s Molson Intermediate Baseball League.

But first the Crusaders have to get through the league’s firstplace team, C.B.S. Riverdale Storage Storm.

Holy Cross, which finished tied for second with the Shammies, and the Storm open their best-of-seven intermediate final tonight at St. Pat’s Ball Park.

The Crusaders ousted Shamrocks Tuesday night with a 3-1 win, taking the best-offive series 3-2.

Philip Edwards (7IP, 3H, 1R, 1ER, 3BB, 3K) outdueled Graham King (7IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 4BB, 7K) in a well-pitched game.

Nick Evans had a big game for Holy Cross, going 2-for-3 with a single, double, walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

The Storm also won their series 3-2, taking Game 5 by a 7-4 decision over Sundance Feildians.

(4IP, 5H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 2K, 1HB) pitched the win after relieving Daniel Toope (3.0IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 1BB, 3K). Riley King

(5IP, 7H, 7R, 6ER, 6BB, 4K, 1HB) started for Feildians and was tagged with the loss. Brett Glover (1IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 0K) threw an inning of relief for the Double Blues. Stephen Trickett had two hits for the winners, and Greg Delacey was 3-for-4 in a losing cause.
