BONNELL Iris

-

Treasured wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and teacher‎, Iris Bonnell (Fitzpatrick) passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on October 2, 2018 at the age of 68. Iris was a special person who touched the lives of everyone she met. Like the butterflies she adored, Iris epitomized beauty, determination, and hope. Iris loved deeply and generously. She was married to Max Bonnell, the love of her life, for 46 years. She also ‎cherished her three children, Weldon (Tanya), Jill (Marc), and Faye (Tony). One of Iris’s very favourite roles in life was that of grandmother. She absolutely adored her three grandsons - Joshua, Nicholas, and Luke as well as her granddaughter Sarah. Iris grew up in St. Lawrence with her beloved mother Rosalie, father Ambrose, and siblings Rita (Wils), John (Lois), and Cecil (Kauri). Iris went on to attend university and enjoy a long career in education. She was always passionate about learning and experiencing the beauty she so readily saw in life. Iris loved people and people loved her. Her grandmother, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and out-laws all meant the world to her, in addition to her many cherished friends. Iris had a passion for entertaining friends and family with delicious home cooking, games, music, laughter, and fun. Iris also found great joy in dancing, reading, writing, and gardening. She said she could never be bored because they were so many wonderful things to do in life. The love, laughter, and friendship Iris shared with so many will live on forever. Whenever butterflies flutter, music soars, loved ones gather, and flowers bloom, Iris will be there. Thank you for being a part of Iris’s life. Visitation will take place from 2 pm – 4 pm and 6 pm – 9 pm on Thursday, October 4th and Friday, October 5th at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Hamilton Avenue in St. John’s. Also, please join us for a special prayer service at the funeral home, which will take place at 8:30 pm on Friday, October 5th.
