After a lengthy illness, Carmel passed away in the presence of her loving and devoted family and friends. She died as she lived, with dignity and grace. She was a woman of true strength and faith. Predecease­d by her husband Bill, brothers Gerry and Fanny, sister Marie, parents Hugh and Frances, sisters-in-law Mary Brennan and Dorothy Driver and many members of the Walsh, Brennan, O’dea, Byrne, Mcgrath and Davis families. Leaving to mourn with many fond memories are her children Anne, Sharon (Roger Purcell), Bill (Andrea), Patti (Ed Connolly), Dorothy (Dave Gillard), David (Kim), Mary, Carmel (Greg, Hayley and Liam Power), grandchild­ren Karen Crane (Brian), Nichole Purcell, Caitlin Connolly (Josh Banfield), Sarah Connolly, Nancy Walsh (Adam Snow), Laura Walsh, Cody Martret (Kelly Mitchelmor­e), Luke Walsh, great-grandchild Caitlin Crane, bery special nieces and nephews Frank Brennan (Anna), Elizabeth Philpott, Ann Connolly (Keith), Eleanor Brennan (Jeff Parsons), Bill Brennan (Annemarie), Tina Hand (Jack-deceased), Mary Brennan (Walter Hammond), Pat Low (Allison), Dorothy Mcwhinnie (Glenn), Mike Low (Jo Milner) and many great-nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. Flowers greatly appreciate­d, or donations can be made to the Gathering Place or the Jack Hand Foundation in her memory. Our heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses, homecare attendants and healthcare teams that have been involved with Mom’s care. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road. Visitation on Wednesday, October 10 from 6-9 pm and Thursday, October 11 from 12-9 pm with the vigil at 7 pm. The mass to celebrate her life will be on Friday, October 12 at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery.
