How will marijuana affect the dressing room?

Doug Doull, New Glasgow, N.S. Weeks Jr. A Crushers head coach If you think it's going to help you be a very productive athlete, I don't see how it can … I've never seen a guy smoke weed and study for a math exam — it makes them want to eat Doritos and play video games.

We've been doing the murals about Mi'kmaq sports figures and haven't seen anything (cannabis use) around here so far and I don't think it will be a problem around here — the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre is a place for athletics and athletes, so I don't think it will change after the legislation comes into effect.

It's not like anabolic steroids that enhance any type of athleticism. From my experience, marijuana basically slows you down or relaxes you. I'm not sure that would be valuable in a lot of athletic situations. Maybe to gear up for it, but I don't see it as something that'll be a problem during games.

Doyle Maclellan, Cornwall, P.E.I. former personal trainer

In a sports locker room I think it could be beneficial for team-building, just getting to know your teammates a little bit better. In the aspect of performance enhancing, I don't really think so because it clouds the mind and body. I think people could supplement (sports psychology) with marijuana because marijuana can be a very introspective kind of drug.
