Do you love art, but find yourself wondering what makes a masterpiece a masterpiece? Who are the artists who created these great works of art and what inspired them? This series of lectures will look at artists from the romantic period to the modernists, their most famous works, and what made these masterpieces important in their own time and why they continue to be influential and important today. National Association of Federal Retirees
The next general meeting for members of the National Association of Federal Retirees – Avalon/ Burin Branch will take place Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Blackmarsh Road. Canadian Storytelling Night
The St. John’s Storytelling Festival presents a special edition of their monthly storytelling circle celebrating Canadian Storytelling Night, featuring Larry Brazil and Dave Penny from 7 to 9 p.m. at Erin’s Pub on Water Street. Admission is $5 (cash only). As this is our special Canadian Storytelling Night edition of the story circle, there will be two featured tellers in addition to the open mike. Larry Brazil and Dave Penny bring charming, witty, and heartfelt songs and stories to the stage that are sure to delight. Canadian Storytelling Night is a growing event supported by Storytellers of Canada-conteurs du Canada, an opportunity to share Canadian stories, a time to gather at the turn of the year when the nights grow longer and colder, and a companion to World Storytelling Day in March.
