6:30 p.m. Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Course (MBSR)
MBSR was developed at the UMASS Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in 1979. Through group and individual practices, discussions and presentations, participants learn a variety of formal and informal approaches for cultivating mindfulness in daily life, and meeting stress and pain with as much resiliency as possible. Her topic is The Journey Project, a three-year project between the Public Legal Information Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PLIAN) and the N.L. Sexual Assault Crisis Prevention Centre (NLSACP) to bridge the gap between sexual assault survivors and the justice system. Members and guests are invited to attend.

Social Upcoming Auction and Supper
The Gower Street United Church Men’s Club’s 48th annual auction and ham and beans supper will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the lecture hall. The silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m., supper at 6 p.m. and the main auction at 7 p.m. Dinner tickets cost $7 and may be purchased at the door, or reserved at the door by calling the church office at 753-7286. Auction items include two weeks in a luxury condo in Fort Lauderdale, local berries and preserves, homemade Christmas puddings and fruit cakes, salt beef, salt fish, knitted goods, restaurant meals, works of art, photography, stained glass items and much more. It’s a great way to find the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone.
