MBSR was developed at the Umass medical school’s centre for mindfulness in 1979. Eastern Health’s monthly Stroke Support Group meeting is held at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, 100 Forest Rd. Since 1990, the Stroke Support Group has been offered by Eastern Health to those whose lives have been affected by stroke. Eastern Health welcomes anyone to attend the meeting to learn more about stroke, stroke recovery and life after a stroke. Winter Solstice Celebration at Fluvarium
Join the Fluvarium for an evening celebration on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Share a story and hot chocolate, decorate a tree full of treats as a gift for the animals and sing some holiday songs. Merry and Bright Holiday Light Festival
The Merry and Bright Holiday Light Festival launches at the MUN Botanical Garden Wednesday evening. With well over 50,000 lights and hundreds of glowing candles, festival highlights include an extended caterpillar of lights, giant puffins, a glowing garden of candles and the 12 gnomes of Christmas. After soldout nights in previous seasons, the garden is thrilled to announce that this year the festival is running more nights than ever. Merry and Bright will take place Nov. 28-30, Dec. 1-2, Dec. 5-9, Dec.12-16 and Dec.19-22. Parking is located at the Marine Institute on Ridge Road.
