Guided Meditation Class Guided meditation led by Pam Senior at Torbay Public Library from 7:30-8:15 p.m. The class will start with a few gentle stretches before moving to a guided meditation to release tension from your body and mind. Bring a mat or blanket to lie on, a blanket or wrap to cover up, and any other props for your comfort. If you are unable to lie down, you can use a chair from the library. Merry and Bright Holiday Light Festival The Merry and Bright Holiday Light Festival is on at the MUN Botanical Garden. With well over 50,000 lights and hundreds of glowing candles, festival highlights include an extended caterpilla­r of lights, the giant puffins, a glowing garden of candles and the 12 gnomes of Christmas. Merry and Bright will take place Nov. 28-30, Dec. 1-2, Dec. 5-9, Dec.12-16 and Dec.19-22. Parking is located at the Marine Institute on Ridge Road. Every 20 minutes, guests can hop aboard a free shuttle to and from the festival at 306 Mount Scio Rd., complete with carol singing. For tickets, visit https://www.mun.ca/botgarden/. Thrive – Christmas Store Each fall, Thrive looks to the community for donations of new items (household items, toys, clothing, etc.) and opens a temporary Christmas Store for participan­ts to buy gifts for their family and friends at a minimal cost. Thrive is currently looking for the public’s help in stocking the shelves of the Christmas Store. Funds raised from the sale of the items are then used to assist in Thrive’s ongoing outreach programs throughout the year. Donations of new items for the Christmas Store can be dropped off at 108 Lemarchant Rd. between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until Dec. 14. Public Architectu­re Lecture Series The Newfoundla­nd and Labrador Associatio­n of Architects (NLAA) is hosting its annual Architectu­re Lecture Series with its third lecture for the year at the Quidi Vidi Plantation. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. with an informal meet and greet, and then the lecture begins at 8 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public – everyone is welcome.
