Kids Club Program for February at The Suncor Energy Fluvarium. Join us as we learn about wetlands and wildlife through activities and games! Come prepared to go outside. Membership to the Kids Club is free with admission to The Fluvarium. This program was developed by the local Ducks Unlimited Chapter. Program length is about 45 to 60 minutes and can include an outdoor component, game, story and craft!

Coldest Night of the Year Choices for Youth is encouraging St. John’s residents to bundle up and raise cold, hard cash for the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk. A family-friendly winter fundraising event for St. John’s homeless and at-risk youth, the walk takes place on the afternoon of Feb. 23. Thousands of participants will take part in the walk in an anticipated 100 cities across Canada. By walking together in the chill of the winter, participants show solidarity with the experience of being on the streets during a cold Canadian winter, while raising funds to aid the work of Choices for Youth in providing much-needed support to members of our community. This is Choices for Youth’s sixth year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, and they’re aiming to raise $45,000 for their work with vulnerable youth in St. John’s. An anticipated 300 walkers are expected to brave the cold winter walk. Learn more or sign up to walk by visiting www.cnoy.org/ stjohns.

Call for Lives Lived segment Each year Artsnl prepares a video montage segment called Lives Lived, as part of the annual arts awards. It’s at that point of the program that we acknowledge the talents that the arts community has lost over the last year. This is an opportunity for members of the community to forward names, a photo and a very brief note that commemorates a “life lived” in the arts. Forward information no later than Friday, March 29. Note that the segment running time may unfortunately limit the number of individuals shown during the show. Information can be emailed to the Artsnl communications officer, Joshua Jamieson, at jjamieson@nlac.ca. The 34th Artsnl Arts Awards will take place Friday, June 7 in Eastport.

We will be singing a dozen or more well-known hymns together, led by Dr. Doug Dunsmore with organ accompaniment by Dr. David Buley and Brian Way on the piano. The event is free to everyone. All ages are welcome and singing experience is neither needed nor expected.
