SATURDAY, APRIL 20 Books 2 p.m. Tom Dawe

Tom Dawe will be at Broken Books, 245 Duckworth St., from 2-4 p.m. to sign copies of his book “New and Collected Poems.” Drop by to celebrate Tom’s achievemen­t and pick up your signed copy of this definitive, necessary collection.

Come hear local author Andy Jones tell the story of “Peg Bearskin” at The Rooms. Peg is big, ugly and hairy, yes, but she’s also smart enough and brave enough to outsmart a witch, help a king, and find husbands for her and her two beautiful sisters. Upcoming Great Big Book Sale

This year’s Great Big Book Sale will be held May 6-8 at the St. John’s Curling Club (RE/MAX Centre). Over 50,000 gently used books. Fiction and non-fiction – all ages and interests. Most $2 or less. Cash only. Students with ID card spending $10 or more, and community groups – come for free books Wednesday, May 8 from 2-3 p.m. Bring your own bag. The sale supports Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) scholarshi­ps and community projects. Easter

9:30 a.m. Brunch and Cake Walk

The Easter brunch and cake walk at the Bauline Community Centre is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and includes a visit from the Easter Bunny. $10 adults, $5 children.

Easter brunch on the farm

The whole family will enjoy a “hungry farmer brunch buffet” at Lester’s Farm Chalet, as well as playing with the baby chicks, lambs, piglets and more. There will be an Easter egg hunt, egg decorating station and even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

2 p.m. Easter Saturday Communion Service

Wesley United Church will hold an Easter Saturday communion service, with a reception to follow. Persons needing transporta­tion to and from the church should call the church office at 579-3682 (leave a message if necessary). All are welcome.
