The Life of Seamus Creagh

A free musical event in the theatre at The Rooms (Level 2). Join us for an illustrate­d presentati­on by Matt Cranitch that outlines Seamus Creagh’s life-story, touching on the different facets of his life, as well as making reference to his various musical collaborat­ions. The Gerald Squires Art Gallery and Museum, 52 Prescott St., has on display some of the artworks that we are reserving toward the establishm­ent of a museum of the life and works of Gerald Squires, C.M., D.litt., R.C.A. Other gallery works include sculptures, paintings, drawings, etchings, lithograph­s, fine-art reproducti­ons, unique limited-edition hand-bound books and publicatio­ns by and/or about gallery represente­d artists, writers, and poets, including Boyd Chubbs, Tom Dawe, Stan Dragland, George Horan, Al Pittman, Sharon Puddester, Esther Squires, Gerry Squires, and Des Walsh. Fundraiser Upcoming Terry Fox Run

The 39th annual Terry Fox Run is taking place at Quidi Vidi Lake on Sept. 15. Everyone is welcome to participat­e in a Terry Fox Run, regardless of age, athletic ability or socio-economic standing. While the run does not have an entry fee or minimum donation, we do ask all participan­ts to fundraise or make a donation. 10 a.m. Fall Plant Sale

Fall is a great time to add new plants to your garden. Everyone is welcome to attend the annual fall plant sale fundraiser organized by Friends of MUN Botanical Garden (FOG) volunteers. A selection of locally grown perennials, heathers, heaths, rhododendr­ons, shrubs and trees, including unusual conifers, are being offered from an outdoor venue located directly opposite the main gates of MUN Botanical Garden, Mount Scio Road. Experience­d gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and help identify plants suitable for your garden. Quantities are limited for some plant varieties, so come early for best selection. Look for parking direction signs and volunteer greeters wearing orange safety vests. Please note: the only animals permitted at this venue are service dogs.
