‘Odious’ Craigslist pedophile sent back to prison
“These are the most horrific crimes you can imagine,” the little girl’s aunt said Thursday. “You just don’t cure pedophilia.” Girl’s aunt
The convicted pedophile’s soft ride is over — for now.
A Hamilton man who advertised his 7-year-old stepdaughter on Craigslist for pedophiles to sexually ravage is headed back to prison.
After The Toronto Sun and Hamilton Spectator reported on Thursday that the 37-year-old man was being transferred to a Quebec healing lodge, the girl’s family, victims’ rights advocates and Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale expressed shock and outrage.
And by the end of the day, Corrections Canada told the girl’s aunt the deviant was headed back to a medium-security prison in Quebec.
“It wasn’t 15 minutes after the Minister put out his statement that I received a call from Corrections Canada,” the aunt told The Toronto Sun Friday.
The situation, she was assured was “being reassessed.”
“We’ll see what they say … who knows? But this makes me very happy,” she added.
On Wednesday, the victim’s stepfather was transferred from Warkworth Penitentiary to the Waseskun Healing Lodge in Quebec.
He pleaded guilty to sexual interference, making child pornography and possession of child pornography for the abuse that occurred between June 2015 to April 2016.
The man had been sentenced to 13.5 years in prison in 2018 and had two years’ worth of chalk marks on the wall for time served.
“These are the most horrific crimes you can imagine,” the little girl’s aunt said Thursday. “You just don’t cure pedophilia.”
But because of a publication ban, the convicted pedophile and his best friend — who was convicted of sexual interference, sentenced to seven years and recently moved to a minimum security prison — can’t be named.
The family desperately wants the stepfather named and shamed for peace of mind and public safety.
The aunt also revealed Kitchener hooker Sonya Lucas has applied for day parole.
Lucas came with a john named Rui Dasilva to take part in the sexual abuse. She got 10 years in prison and had already been jailed for having sex with her teenage sons.
The transfer caught the attention of Minister of Public Safety Ralph Goodale’s office who quickly responded to the healing lodge move.
“The abuse of a child is odious and utterly reprehensible, and we can only imagine the pain of the victim and her family,” his office said Thursday.
“Minister Goodale welcomes CSC’S review of this case and has asked the Commissioner to examine whether all relevant policies were properly followed and whether those policies are the right ones for inmate management and public safety.”
And that’s what has happened. The victim, now 11, is still undergoing intense therapy and her aunt said it would take years for her to recover.
