10 a.m. Try-a-trade® & Technology Day Skills Canada Newfoundla­nd and Labrador (SCNL) is proud to host an interactiv­e, educationa­l, and fun experience for families, students, children, and those eager to explore careers in skilled trades and technologi­es. The Try-a-trade & Technology Day is a component of SCNL’S 17th Annual Intermedia­te Challenge and will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at College of the North Atlantic, Prince Philip Drive. Admission is free. No experience required. Try-a-trade® & Technology Day is open to the public and offers participat­ion in a wide range of experienti­al, hands-on demonstrat­ions in areas such as LEGO and underwater robotics, Michael Neary racing, Brilliant Labs coding, 3D digital game art and design, small engine repair, electrical installati­on, cake design, plumbing, and more.

Fogo Island Film is an annual series organized by Fogo Island Arts devoted to internatio­nal films that consider the diversity of relationsh­ips between nature and society. This year’s theme is Resistance and Resilience. Events all weekend at The Rooms’ theatre. Included with cost of admission. On Saturday, Nov. 23, from 1 to 2:10 p.m. is winning submission­s from the Fogo Island Film 2019 internatio­nal open call for short films, followed from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with “A Whale of a Tale”.

Mummers’ Run

Come don your Mummer finery for the 2nd Annual Les Ms. Choir Mummers’ Run, presented in collaborat­ion with The Running Room and Quidi Vidi Brewery, and supported by Orange Theory Fitness. Come out on Saturday, Nov. 30th at noon to the Quidi Vidi Trail for a 5km run, walk, amble, hop or skip. Come dressed in your fanciest Mummer togs! Extend the afternoon with a short walk to Quidi Vidi Brewery for a libation and some presentati­ons when you have finished. Prize for the Hare and the Tortoise, and some other random surprises during the day. Registrati­on through The Running Room, events.runningroo­m.com. Registrati­on fee, $40. Portion of proceeds in aid of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre Patient and Family Support Fund.

CRAFTS 1:30 p.m. Holiday card workshop

Join Sheila Ford to learn iris folding. Originatin­g in Holland, crafters would cut strips of paper from the insides of used envelopes to create a spiraling or iris design. Now artists use wrapping paper, origami paper, magazines, and scraps of fabric to enhance the effect. Learn this technique to make holiday cards with the Anna Templeton Centre as part of the We Love Craft Skill Sharing Series. This workshop will be offered twice at the Anna Templeton Centre at 278 Duckworth St. on Nov. 28 and 30 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This workshop is free, but space is limited so registrati­on is required at https://bit. Upcoming Fun-filled Frozen afternoon

Coming up on Sunday, December 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. Join us at The Fluvarium for a magical holiday afternoon of stories, crafts and a sing-along with Anna and Elsa! Dressing-up is welcome. Be sure to bring your camera for photo ops! This event is open to all ages. $10 per princess or prince with their accompanyi­ng adult. Siblings under 24 months are free with a paid ticket. Admission to our exhibit levels is included. Tickets available at The Fluvarium or by phone: 754-3474. Purchase and pick up tickets during office hours before December 14. All attendees are welcome to join in for feeding time with our critters at 4 p.m., so make sure you stick around.

SOCIAL 8 a.m. Breakfast with Santa

Topsail United Church Men’s Club’s annual Breakfast with Santa will be held from 8 to 11 a.m., featuring the usual great menu. Adults $8, children $4. Face painting and colouring for the children. Pictures with Santa. All are welcome.
