MAHONEY Thomas William

June 20, 1934 – December 25, 2019 Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at the St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital at the age of 85. He was surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by his loving wife Sheila; parents Tom and Frances Mahoney; daughter Patricia; sisters Bernice Gladney and June Butler; and son-in-law Randy Williams. Leaving to mourn special friend Barb Tizzard; children Brenda Mahoney (Tom Kohl), Colleen Mahoney (Rodney Dart), Ann Marie Williams and Thomas Mahoney (Susan Norman); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Barbara (Barb) Austin; sisters-inlaw Patricia (Pat) Darcy, Elizabeth (Betty) Ross (Dale), and Donna Spratt; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Tom lost his mother at the tender age of 7 and was raised by his maternal grandmother, Nanny Sinnott. He served 15 years in the Royal Canadian Navy and has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion in St. John’s for many years. He loved a game of darts and cards, had a Sharp wit and great sense of humour, and enjoyed a good ‘scuff’. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road. Visitation on Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 9:30 AM from Corpus Christi Church. Cremation to follow.
