June 9, 1933 – January 14, 2020 It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful but sudden passing of our beautiful mother, Ruby Stead, at the Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Clarence (2011); parents: George and Floretta Pender; parents-inlaw: Samuel and Bessie Stead; brothers: James (Laura), Douglas (Beatrice) and Robert. Leaving to mourn her loss and celebrate her life, sons: Wayne (Bernice) and Terry (Corinne); daughters: Linda (Rick Shears), Debbie (Paul Bowering), Cindy (Will Clarke), and Sandi; grandchildren: Michael (Katie), Krista (Jason), Brendan (Sara), Samantha, Katie, Cassie, Mason, Pauline (Gerald), Lisa (Ken), Angela (Jason), Laura (Andrew); great-grandchildren: Ella, Kobe, Hayley, Kylie, Kelsey, Kendra, Gavin, Riley, Julia, Gabrielle, Kendra, Alise, Jaxon, Caleb, Brady, Avery, Zoey and Lily; sisters: Doris (Tom King, deceased), Florence (John Williams, deceased), Lorraine (John Pearce) and Rosalind (John King); brothers: Don (Mabel), Clarence (Terri) and George (Charlotte); sisters-in-law: Glenys (Anderson Dalton), Jean (Calvin Stead, deceased), Marion (Allister Stead, deceased); brother-in-law: Donald Stead (Ruby); special friends: Viola Norman, Fred and Doris George, Curtis Codner, Ethel Bowering and a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Special thanks to staff at Glenbrook Lodge for her care during her brief stay with them. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Salvation Army St. John’s West Corps or Calvary Memorial United Church, Little Catalina. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 from 11am-2pm and 4pm-7pm. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 19th , 2020 at 2pm, with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
