Passed peacefully away early Tuesday morning, January 21st, 2020 at St. Luke’s Home in the presence of her loving family. Daphne, aged 88, was the daughter of the late Victor Hollett of Spencer’s Cove, NL and Edith Hollett (Gilbert) of Haystack, NL. Daphne was a caring, compassion­ate, and loving mother, grandmothe­r, sister, aunt, and friend. She practiced as a Registered Nurse for many years, retiring in 1994 from the Children’s Rehabilita­tion Centre. Caring for children with special needs was her greatest passion. Most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchild­ren who were her pride and joy. Daphne is predecease­d by her loving husband of 60 years Calvin, and her sisters Verna Thaxton, Edith Wareham, and Joan Hollett. She will be deeply missed by her loving children Craig (Lise), Brad (Susan), Blair (Cathy), Rodney (Frances), and Janice (Brian); cherished grandchild­ren, Brayden, Riley, Sophie, Matthew, Nadyezhda, Malcolm, and Julia; sisters Ivy Blackmore (Harold) and Gwen Hollett; as well as her lovable grand fur babies Charlie, Rocky and Orangie. We would like to acknowledg­e some special people who were very dear to Daphne including: The members of her graduating class (1954) from the General Hospital School of Nursing, all members of the Anchorman Barbershop Chorus, especially Alex Andrews and Lester Bowering, as well as close family and friends Sarah Hendrickso­n, Greg Marsh, Kai and Cathy Ward and numerous nieces and nephews. A heartfelt and extra special thank you to all the staff at St. Luke’s Home for the wonderful care, kindness and compassion you provided to Daphne, as well as to the whole family. We will be forever grateful. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st from 2-4 and 7-9 at Barrett’s Funeral Home Hamilton Ave. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 1st at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Anglican Church on Logy Bay Road, St. John’s. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, James Lane, St. John’s. As Daphne loved flowers, they would be gratefully accepted, or donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society. It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Marie Richardson, beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister aunt, and friend. Florence passed away peacefully at St Clare’s Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Predecease­d by her parents Francis and Doris Dillon and brother Ted Dillon. Leaving to mourn her beloved and devoted husband Bernard; daughter Lynn, son in law Terry Lucas, son Bernie and daughter in law Maryann Richardson. Her cherished grandchild­ren Courtney (Brandon) and Brandon Lucas; Quinn, Lucy and Sadie Richardson who all adored their Nanny Flo. Florence treasured her family including her brother Francis (Donna), sisters Peg, Roz, Mary (Bob), Chris (Wayne), Paula (Doug), sister in law Helen and brother in law Gerald Richardson. Also her many nieces, nephews and cousins, Florence also loved and cared for many family pets. Florence was a dedicated employee at A. Lilly & Co for many years. She enjoyed her retirement by spending time with family and volunteeri­ng at the Gathering Place. Florence was proud to have grown up and raise her own family in downtown St. John’s. She lived her life to the fullest enjoying activities over the years such as Bingo, card games, and darts. Florence and Bernard spent most of their loving companions­hip visiting family, having a coffee, or frequentin­g the dollar store. Florence (Nanny Flo), you are deeply loved and will be dearly missed in our lives. We will remember your supportive presence at hockey and baseball games, bowling tournament­s, and dance recitals. Thank you too all of our family, friends, and profession­als who have helped us during this difficult time. Visitation at Cauls Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road on Wednesday, January 29 from 11am-9pm. Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday, January 30 at 9:30am at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist, with reception to follow at Knights of Columbus, St. Clare Ave at 11am.
