Victoria Park Community Sledding

Hosted by Mark Critch from 1 to 4 p.m. Free event. Everyone welcome. Have fun at one of the best sliding hills in town, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and some chili. We will be filling our ‘community bin’ with non-perishable food items as a donation to Bridges to Hope Food Aid Centre, so please bring what you can!

Walk a Mile in His Shoes

The Avalon Prostate Cancer Support Group is hosting Walk a Mile in His Shoes indoor walk at the Jack Byrne Arena. Come support men and their families who have experience­d prostate cancer. Registrati­on opens at 9:30 a.m., walk begins 10 a.m. Refreshmen­ts and prizes to follow. Any queries, contact Keith Guzzwell 726-9782.

Quilts of Valour Sew Day

Supporting injured Canadian Armed Forces members with quilts of comfort. Join us from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the St. John’s Military Family Resource Centre (145 Churchill Ave.) for a day of quilting. You are asked to kindly bring along any red/white/cream/yellow fabrics, or any colours you have, to incorporat­e into the quilts. You will need your sewing machine and the usual sewing and quilting tools. We will have irons/ironing boards/ cutting tables and a few sewing machines on hand in case yours isn’t portable. Tea and coffee will be available during the day. There is a fridge to store your lunch. Join us for as long as you can on our sew day.
