December 22, 1938 January 13, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Sprout on January 13, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Margie was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Mae Mcdonald; parentsin-law, Loren and Beulah Sprout; sister, Regina Callahan and her husband Gary; brother, Percy Mcdonald; nephew, Paul Callahan; brother-in-law, Irvin Sprout and sister-in-law, Betty Sprout. She leaves to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Bill Sprout; son, Gregory (Andrea Zani); daughter, Michelle Torre (Eric); beloved grandchildren, Zoe and Will Sprout and Ethan and Jenna Torre; brother, Jim Mcdonald (Ollie); sister, Geri and sister-in-law, Allison; brother-in-law, Don Sprout and sister-in-law, Jolece Sprout as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends throughout Canada and the U.S.. Shortly after completing the Registered Nursing program at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Margie left Newfoundland and Labrador to pursue opportunities in the U.S.. While working as a nurse at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois she met the love of her life, Bill Sprout and the two were married on Valentine’s Day in 1962. They enjoyed 57 wonderful and fun filled years together on a journey that took them to Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin. Of course, like most Newfoundlanders, Margie always took every opportunity to return to this beloved island with Bill who quickly developed a strong attachment to Newfoundland and its people as well. They loved to bring their children ‘home’ to spend time with relatives and friends and to experience the beauty and tranquility of this wonderful place. Margie was a sincere, kind, caring, gentle and gracious lady. She had a quiet dignity and a beautiful spirit. Her love for her family, her friends and especially her grandchildren was unconditional. Gatherings with Grandma and Grandpa were filled with love and laughter. We are heartbroken at losing our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, neighbor and friend. Margie was all of these and so much more, a true blessing from the true north, our dearest Newfoundlander. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 5460 Mary Lake Road in Westport, Wisconsin with visitation 9:30-11:00 a.m. before the service. In memoriam donations will be forward by the family to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin and Agrace Hospicecare Inc. Goodbye, beautiful Margie, we love you.
