Passed peacefully but suddenly away at his residence on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, George W. Penney of Carbonear, age 85 years. Predecease­d by parents: George T. and Mary; infant sister: Helen; parents-in-law: James and Lily Piercey; brothers-in-law: Ralph (Margaret) and Herbert; sisters-in-law: Jean (Gerald), and Myrtle. Leaving to mourn, wife: Margaret; two sons: Robert (Debbie), Ottawa, ON and Leslie (Dianne), Hatchet Lake, NS; two daughters: Helen (Don) Curran, Carbonear and Mary Barbara (Carson) Clarke, Riverhead, Hr. Grace; seven grandchild­ren: Devin (Andrea), Ashley (Jeff), Nathaniel, Daniel (Jane), Olivia, Justin, and Natasha; three brothers: Frank (Ella), Carbonear, Calvin (Pauline), Bristol’s Hope, and Gerald (Muriel), Carbonear; brothers-in-law: Gerald (Amy) Piercey, St. John’s and Melvin (Emma) Piercey, Heart’s Content; sisters-in-law: Edna Crocker, Heart’s Content, Sylvia (Bill) Peddle, Hr. Grace and Lorna (Dave) George, Heart’s Content; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Due to the current pandemic, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment for select immediate family members will take place on Friday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear.
