No new cases in province on Monday
Newfoundland and Labrador marks 11 consecutive days without positive test
Newfoundland and Labrador has no new confirmed cases of COVID-19, the province's Department of Health and Community Services announced in a news release Monday.
The total number of confirmed cases in the province remains at 260, with a regional breakdown as follows: Eastern Health, 242; Central Health, 8; Labrador-grenfell Health, 6; and Western Health, 4.
The release notes that 52 per cent of cases are female and 48 per cent are male.
By age, there are 22 people 19 years old and under; 38 people between 20-39 years of age; 38 people between 40-49 years of age; 58 people between 50-59 years of age; 57 people between 60-69 years of age; and 47 people who are 70 years old or older.
Three people are in hospital due to the coronavirus, with one of those being in intensive care.
Out of the 260 cases, 249 people have recovered from COVID-19. There have been three deaths in the province from COVID-19.
To date, 10,676 people have been tested in the province.
The news release reminds Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to continue to follow the public health orders and directives issued by Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
Daily preventative actions can help to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. These actions include:
• Stay informed, be prepared and follow public health advice;
• Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds;
• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the absence of soap and water;
• Do not touch your face;
• Practice proper cough and sneeze etiquette;
• Maintain physical distancing;
• Wear a non-medical mask or face covering when you are in public and unable to maintain physical distancing;
• Increase cleanliness and ventilation of public spaces and worksites;
• Stay home if you are sick and avoid contact with others;
• Work from home, where possible; and
• Shop online and use curbside pickup, where possible.
