N.L. faith leaders adapting worship

Once again, Newfoundland and Labrador had no new cases of COVID-19 to report on Sunday, marking three straight days with no new cases.

The province has registered only one confirmed case in more than three weeks, and has registered only a handful since April.

There are currently three active cases in the province, with one person in hospital.

The total number of confirmed cases remains at 261, and the total recovered is 255. Three people have died due to the virus.

The regional breakdown of the 261 is: Eastern Health – 243; Central Health – 8; Labrador-grenfell Health – 6; Western Health – 4.

To date, 12,196 people have been tested.

“Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are reminded to follow the public health orders and directives issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health,” reads Sunday's news release from the province.

“To be successful in Alert Level 4, individuals should practice good infection prevention and control practices.”

Some preventive actions recommended in the news release include:

• Stay informed, be prepared, and follow public health advice;

• Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds;

• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer in the absence of soap and water;

• Do not touch your face; • Practice proper cough and sneeze etiquette;

• Maintain physical distancing;

• Wear a non-medical mask or face covering when you are in public and unable to maintain physical distancing;

• Increase cleanliness and ventilation of public spaces and worksites;

• Stay home if you are sick and avoid contact with others;

• Work from home, where possible; and,

• Shop online and use curb side pick-up, where possible.
