The next phase of storm sewer upgrades on Kenmount Road will begin Thursday, and the construction is expected to continue until the end of November.

Kenmount Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Peet Street and Pippy Place for the duration of the work.

“Traffic on Kenmount Road will be maintained, however, disruptions and slowdowns are expected. Please use an alternate route if possible,” reads a traffic advisory from the city issued Tuesday morning.

The city’s engagestjohns. ca website says every effort will be made to minimize interruptions and to maintain traffic flow, especially during rush hour.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on one side of the road during construction.

Businesses in the area will remain open during construction. In a social media post on Tuesday, Coun. Ian Froude asked the public to be patient and continue to support those businesses.

This is the third of four phases to complete this project. The fourth phase is planned for 2021 and will involve the area between Pippy Place and the Team Gushue Highway Overpass.

The new storm sewer replaces aging infrastructure and provides additional capacity, according to the city website.

The 2020 tender for the work was awarded last week to Weir’s Construction for $4,623,766.13.
