MUGFORD Robert John

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert John Mugford, at the age of 57. He was released from the clutches of a terribly cruel disease, frontotemporal dementia, on May 31st, 2020, after battling the illness for almost a decade. Left with loving memories of a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and uncle are his wife Joselyn of 32 years, daughter, Alanna (Nick), parents John and Shirley Mugford, his sister, Lesley Anne (Jim) Mahon, parents-in-law, Gus and Mabel Banks, brother-in-law, Glynn (Gertie) Banks, sister-inlaw, Myra (Rick) Swyers, six nieces and nephews, seven grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family and dear friends. Born in St. John’s, NL on Jan 30th, 1963, Robert grew up in Upper Gullies (CBS), NL. After his marriage to Joselyn, they moved to Ottawa, ON in 1989 where they raised their daughter and he ran his own computer programming business. Robert loved spending time with his family, and particularly enjoyed travelling and boating. He had a passion for windsurfing and was an avid runner, competing in several marathons. Robert had a life long love of music which included playing trumpet in the Conception Bay South Concert Band and taking piano lessons in his younger years. Voice lessons continued his admiration for the arts later in his adult life. He loved to listen to classical music and watch his daughter perform in the annual production of the Nutcracker ballet. Robert had a soft spot for animals and always had a furry companion by his side. Robert was kind, generous and easy going. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations can be made to the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health, 1145 Carling Ave, Ottawa, ON K1Z 7K4 or Granite Ridge Care Community, 5501 Abbott St East, Stittsville, ON K2S 2C5. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a small, private family service will be held on Thursday, June 4th, 2020 at 1 pm to celebrate Robert’s life. For those would like to join the service virtually, please contact the family for further details. Condolences and Sharing Memories www.kellyfh.ca
