Finalists announced for 2019 provincial awards
Stars and Legends Awards Gala to be hosted virtually before end of the month
COVID-19 may have cancelled Sport Newfoundland and Labrador’s annual Stars and Legends Awards Gala for this year, but that doesn’t mean the province’s best athletes for 2019 and the latest provincial Sports Hall of Fame class won’t be recognized soon.
Sport NL recently announced the finalists for this year’s provincial awards program, following the announcement of Kirk Howell, Anne Barrington-johnston and Erin Woodrow (athletes), Gail Roberts (athletebuilder) and Doug Redmond (builder) as the newest Hall of Famers.
The awards are normally presented during the Stars and Legends Gala, a night of celebrating the achievements of athletes, volunteers and administrators. However, that event, originally set for the Sheraton Hotel in St. John’s in May, was postponed because of the pandemic.
Instead, the presentation of awards will be hosted virtually before the end of the month.
