The RNC is investigating an arson at a Mount Pearl home that was the target of a firebomb for the third time is less than a week.

Investigators don’t believe the incidents were random.

At 12:30 a.m. Monday, firefighters and police officers were called once again to the house on Laumann Place, where they noticed exterior damage to the front of the home.

As reported by Telegram photojournalist Keith Gosse, who was on the scene, a quick-thinking neighbour had the fire mostly extinguished by the time they arrived. There were no injuries.

The same thing happened six days earlier, and just two days earlier a car parked in the driveway was torched.

Police had already issued a plea to the public for information that might identify the perpetrators before Monday morning’s incident.

Just before Monday morning’s fire started at the front of the home, a man was seen outside the home. He is described as tall, slender and about 20 years old, wearing a grey hoodie and a red ball cap.

The suspect reportedly left the area and was seen getting into a gold sedan, which appeared to be full of occupants as it left the area.

The RNC is seeking any witnesses and anyone with dash camera or CCTV footage in the noted area around the time of the incident. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be provided anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
