Dangerous offender facing sex crime charges in Labrador

A man who was declared a Dangerous offender in 2019 is facing two charges in Happy Valley-goose Bay court.

Christophe­r Terriak, 56, is scheduled to go on trial on Dec. 9 and 10 this year for a charge of sexual assault and a charge of indecent assault on a male.

According to documents from the court, the charges date back to the early 1980s and involved a child under the age of 10.

Terriak, who is originally from Labrador, was declared a dangerous offender by the Halifax provincial courts in October 2019 after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a man in Halifax.

He was given five years for that crime, but had already served 51 months, which left him with nine months to serve.

Terriak has more than 30 criminal conviction­s since 1982, including attempted murder, manslaught­er and sexual assault.
