Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Saturday, April 17, 2021, Ronald Joseph Shannahan, age 84 years, of Cape Broyle. Predecease­d by six brother and six sisters. Leaving to mourn his wife Marena (nee Kitchen) of almost fifty years, two sons Paul (wife Carolyn) and Mark (wife Heather), four precious grandchild­ren Martina (John), Luke, Cameron and Jayda, sister Sally Skehans (John), sisters-inlaw Mary Shannahan, Margaret Tucker, Lillian Basha, and Carol Kitchen, many nieces and nephews, especially niece Edna Lahey and her husband Phonse, and nephew Allie Walsh (Sylvia), good friends and coffee buddies Mikie Hawkins, Raymond Mackey and Paddy Dalton, and furry friend, Max. Special thanks to Ron’s family physician, Dr. Peter Morry, for his wonderful care and many visits to our home over the past four years and who was always a phone call away. Heartfelt thanks to Ron’s homecare workers Jill Walsh, Ronnie Wheaton, Bernadette Aspell, Janet Hann, Uriel Murphy and Pam O’brien whose care and compassion for Ron was unwavering. Thank you as well to Community Health nurses, Michelle Rossiter and Lorna Lawlor as well as St. Clare’s 4 West nurses, physicians and staff during Ron’s brief stay. Thank you to Quality Homecare Services in Ferryland and the staff at Medicine Corner in Bay Bulls for your invaluable support. Finally, our family would like to thank family and friends, including his card buddies, who called or dropped by our home for a visit over the past four years. Your kindness to Ron will never be forgotten. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse on Wednesday, April 21st from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
