MCDONALD (GIOVANNINI), Margaret Mary

Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, Margaret Mary (Giovannini) Mcdonald, at the age of 91 years. She was predeceased by her parents Gregory Giovannini and Ethel Pike of St. Lawrence, NL, as well as by her sisters Creusa (Sr. Mary Julian), Ethel Everson and Carmel Harvey, and her brothers Gregory, Celestine, Ferdinand, Julian, Guglielmo, Enrico and Leo. Margaret leaves with treasured and loving memories her husband of 66 years, Vincent, her sons Gerard (Jane), Paul (Lucinda) and Daniel (Kimberley), her seven grandchildren, Mark (Nour), Sarah (Andrew), Christopher (Robyn), Megan, Michael (Jillian), Melissa (Andrew), and Dougal (Erika), her sister Mary Jackman, and her cousin Blanche Slaney, as well as many nieces and nephews of the Mcdonald and Giovannini families. Margaret was a proud graduate of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital School of Nursing (1951), and worked at St. Clare’s until her retirement in 1987. Following retirement, she volunteered for several years with the Canadian Red Cross Blood Clinic, and enjoyed travels with Vincent and the countless happy hours they spent with their grandchildren. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Mercedes Penton and the staff of Tiffany Village for their compassionate and attentive care of Margaret, which was most appreciated by both Margaret and Vincent. Arrangements have been entrusted to Caul’s Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 7 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, with a funeral service to be held at Mary Queen of Peace, Torbay Road, on Saturday May 8 at 10:00 am. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to The Gathering Place.
