Sadly, on May 7, 2021, Eve passed away peacefully at home, after a short bout of cancer. Eve was born on October 1, 1948, to Eric and Myrtle Tippett, both deceased. From her moment of birth, her smile dazzled all. Whenever she entered a room, all were embraced by her openness, and welcoming personality. Eve is leaving to mourn her loving husband, Avrum, her brothers John (Linda), and Wade, as well as her aunt Joyce (Clarence), her special cousin Doris, of Ottawa, and her niece Nancy of Whitby, as well as an extended family of cousins. Sadly, Eve lost two brothers earlier, Robert (Bobby) and Carl. She loved and will be missed by her stepchildren Joel (Maureen), Michael (Sandy), Lawrence (Carol), Dvorah (Steve), and Jonathan (Kim). She enjoyed being Grammy Eve to her step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, all in mainland Canada and the USA. Eve was an avid bridge player, and her many bridge buddies will find it difficult to replace her fun loving attitude at the bridge table. She also enjoyed being on the golf course with Avrum, a game they played together during their wonderful 32 year marriage. For many years, the two of them travelled to Florida with friends in the spring and sometimes in the fall, for much needed rest and relaxation. A favourite destination was New York, where she and Avrum visited the Metropolitan Museum and relished the attractions of Broadway. She was happy when travelling, having also visited Paris, London, Norway and Iceland. A few years ago, she and Avrum spent two weeks travelling through Israel, her favourite spot being Masada. Eve loved to sing, and music always surrounded her at home. In the last few years, she enjoyed accompanying herself on the piano while singing her favourite songs. She was happiest in her kitchen, and she and Avrum hosted many dinner parties in their home. While ill at home, she was looked after by a wonderful group of caregivers from Comfort Home Care, and by her superb team from the Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Special thanks to Dr Pamela Snow, and Dr Jonathan Greenland, and the nurses and staff of Community Health, and Palliative Care of St John’s. As well, the many friends, as well as neighbours of Macpherson Avenue, who all offered assistance and love, receive grateful thanks from family. Eve was cremated as was her wish. There will be a visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday, May 11th, from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 pm. Because of restrictions due to COVID, there will be no funeral, but when life returns to normal, the family will host a ceremony to celebrate her life, date and time to be announced in the future.
