GREENING (nee Coffey), Theresa

-

June 4, 1929 – May 12, 2021. It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Greening (Coffey) announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Our mom passed away surrounded by her loving family and supported by the caring and dedicated staff of Chancellor Park. Mom was born on June 4, 1929 to Walter and Ida Coffey in Angels Cove, Cape Shore - Placentia Bay and always held the cove close to her heart. Leaving to mourn her children Beverley Verville (Jacques), David Greening, Verna Harvey (Richard). Gail Mcgrath (Mark), Heather Johnson, and Bruce Greening. Mom was the loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren who will dearly miss her hugs; Cheryl (Andrew), Jacques (Kelli), Carolyn (Gareth), Susan (Mark), Richard (Rebecca), Curtis, and Alexis (father Darroch); adored greatgrandmother to 11 greatgrandchildren; Sophia, Mercedes, Tony, Nathan, Zachary, Liam, Ryan, Meghan, Nell, Merry and Kit. Mom is survived by her sister Bride, the last of the Coffey clan. Predeceased by her brothers Walter, William and Dave; sisters Lucy, Ellen, Cecilia, and Mary Ann; and other members of the Coffey family. Also leaving behind many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Theresa so much. Mom raised 6 children. She loved to cook and bake which many members of our extended family can attest to. Mom would always welcome relatives into our home. She enjoyed having a great chat over a cup of tea or a good game of cards, especially when she was at her cabin in Angels Cove. You would hear the laughter all through the cove when all her crowd would get together. Mom loved to sew and knit. She always made sure we had warm mitts, knit with love from the wool of the sheep from the Cape Shore. The quilts she made over the years will be treasured. She loved her garden on Golf Avenue. Mom started her nursing career as a young girl in Placentia Cottage Hospital and then went on to complete her nursing assistant training while still raising her family. Mom worked at the General Hospital until her retirement. At this time, we want to say how thankful we are to the staff at Chancellor Park. The last few days while mom was in palliative care, all of you were so kind to us and treated our mom with the love and compassion you would give to your own mothers. For that, we are forever grateful. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue with visitations on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm and on Monday, May 17th from 1pm-2pm. Funeral service to follow from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel at 2pm. Due to limited capacity, the service will be by invitation only. The service will be lived streamed at www.barretts.ca for those wishing to attend virtually. Interment will take place on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2pm at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Patrick’s Cove. In lieu of flowers, donations in Theresa’s memory may be made to the Ronald Mcdonald House. To view online guestbook or leave a message of condolence, please visit www s.ca
