January 30, 1944 - May 12, 2021. Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on May 12, 2021 in her 77th year Loretta Howlett (nee O’dea) of Bay Bulls. Predecease­d by her parents Raphael and Mabel O’dea, brothers Peter, Frank and Vincent, sisters Helen Mulcahy and Maureen O’dea. Leaving to mourn with loving memories is her husband of 53 years John Howlett, her daughters Tina Gushue (Billy) and Linda Howlett (Johnny Heffernan). Sisters Ethel Finn (Tom – deceased), Geraldine Williams (John) and brother John O’dea. Brother-in-law Gerald Howlett (Della) and sisterin-law Nora Bergeron (Joe), Rosie Vickers (Marty – deceased), Linda Doyle (Stan) and Teresa O’dea. Also leaving to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Also mourning her passing special lifelong friend Loretta Hiscock. Mom was a character who loved making people laugh. Her happiest times were camping and travelling around Newfoundla­nd over the years. She loved music, dancing and singing. She would never turn down a good scoff or sweets. The family would like to thank 7th floor St. Clare’s for their care during her illness, Dr. Tina Squires, Dr. Jassinska, Father Philip Melvin and Joe Ryan for his guidance and profession­alism. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 5-9 pm and Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 2-9pm. Mass of Christian burial to follow on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11am from Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Parish Church, Bay Bulls. Interment to follow at Our Lady of Mount Loretta R.C. Cemetery, Bay Bulls. Due to Covid restrictio­ns attendance at the church is limited to 100 people. If you wish to attend the funeral mass please register at Ryan’s Funeral Home. “Cover me over”.
