SILVER, Mercedes

-

The family of the late Mercedes Silver (nee Lake) wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the support, love and kindness shown to us all during her illness and passing. We gratefully acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy from family, friends, and neighbours, as shown through their phone calls, visits, mass cards and sympathy cards, as well as the many beautiful floral arrangements, gifts of food, and donations in her memory. Thank you to the medical specialists as well as their professional assistants and staff who provided many years of care to mom for her eyes and ears; and the wonderful, caring staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Center for their compassion and professionalism, who took such good care of mom for the week she spent there, and helped us prepare for her passing. Thank you, to Dr. Kelly Monaghan, for the love and compassion you showed to our mom during the last 5 years of her life. Your many home visits to mom during this time, when it was so uncomfortable for her to leave her own home, and when “house calls” are no longer the norm, would bring her much comfort. They were more than doctor visits – they always turned into a yarn with an old friend. Sincere appreciation to Father Ken Walsh, Father Ray Earle, and Father Doug Barrett for the Mass of Christian burial celebrating her life; and a special thank you, Father Ken, for your heart-felt homily. Although we know that many of you wanted to be there in person, these trying Covid times prevented that. Your love, however, was definitely felt. It is not possible to thank everyone individually, but please be assured that all your expressions of kindness and condolence have provided us great strength and comfort. It will never be forgotten.
