HORLICK, Gerald A. (Gerry)

1936 – 2021

-

Passed peacefully away on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021, Gerald Ambrose Horlick. Left to cherish the memories of her loving and devoted husband is Mary (Hillier), their loving daughter Barbara Perchard (Craig), Pop’s two adoring granddaughters, Kimberley Perchard and Kelly Perchard (Brandon). His girls were his pride and joy!

Gerald will be sadly missed by his brother Fr. Michael (Ret’d Anglican Priest), his sisters - Joan Hatfield (Ben - deceased), Olive Horlick and Lorraine Horlick, and sister-in law Cathy Horlick (Bill deceased) and their families. Also, “like-a-sister” Daphne Oates (Wally - deceased) and her family. Gerry will be fondly remembered by his in-laws. Ruby Harris (George), Thelma Snow (Jim - deceased), Curt Hillier (Pam), Bruce Hillier (Michael Rochemont - deceased) and Erika Hillier (Lawson deceased) and their families.

Gerry’s first love was his family, next was his love of music. He was gifted with a keen ear for music and at a young age taught himself to play guitar and sing. He could play most anything that made music! The rest is history!! He sang with his church choir, volunteered countless hours at Senior’s homes and charities and was the life of every gettogether from here to Florida. All family functions included a sing-a-long with his cherished Gibson guitar (Gibby).

At a time in life when most of us are slowing down, Gerry took up running. He was never competitive by nature but thoroughly enjoyed the exercise and the comradery of his fellow runners, he successfully completed the Tely 10 several times. Gerry was a kind man with a gentle soul and a soft heart – a true gentleman. He loved life and always tried to see the best in everything and everyone. He had a contagious smile and sense of boyish mischief we will all miss.

We wish to thank all those who cared for Gerry during his illness. Dr. Mark Porter and Dasha, The Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, The Paramedicine Program, the Community Health Nurses, the PCU at the Miller Centre and all their support staff. We know it takes many willing hands and heads to make such special care happen. We would also like to thank our family, friends and neighbours at Masonic Park for all their physical and moral support. Gerald is predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Mabel (Oates) Horlick. His baby sister Barbara, his older sister Elizabeth and her husband Raymond Kuhn. His nieces Yvonne Snow, Joanne Sooley and Beverley Kuhn. His nephews Larry Hatfield and Shawn Hillier. May they rest in peace.
