Pre-deceased by her parents Bessie and Harry Piercey; brothers Wilfred and George; sisters Ettie and Cora, all of Rocky Harbour, NL. Leaving to mourn her husband Mark Leyte, daughters Ina Leyte (George) and Pam Davies (Peter), grandchild­ren Megan Kinsella (Justin), Katie Hickey (Seth), Evan Davies (Breanna), special great-granddaugh­ter Ruth Minnette Ryan Kinsella, brother Ken Piercey (Ruby), sister-in-law Pearl Shave (Phil-deceased), brother-in-law Jerry Leyte (Barb), sister-in-law Mary Leyte (Copper-deceased), her special friend Daphne Blackwood (Mac-deceased), and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis’ greatest love was her family. For 64 years she made her home with husband Markie in Buchans, Grand Falls-windsor and Lewisporte. In retirement Phyllis moved with Markie to Conception Bay South to be closer to her children and grandchild­ren, who benefited greatly from her involvemen­t in their lives. She will be remembered for her skill and creativity in the kitchen and the countless meals around her table, made with love and being sure nobody left hungry nor empty handed. Phyllis was a member of The Parish of the Ascension in Mount Pearl, a blessing in her life, where she was involved with fundraisin­g for missions and committees resulting in an Award of Merit from the diocese which she shared with Markie. Her family would like to thank Rev. Lynn Courage for her presence in our time of need. Also St. Luke’s Nursing Home who cared for Phyllis in the last months of her life. To our friends and family who have reached out we would like you to know your support, prayers and condolence­s have been a great comfort to us. Cremation has taken place. Visitation to be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonweal­th Avenue on Wednesday, June 16 from 24pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service to be held from Parish of the Ascension, Smallwood Drive, Mount Pearl on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. To attend the service you must pre-register with the church due to COVID-19 restrictio­ns. The service will be live streamed for those who can’t attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
